Notes for Parents

On Attire:
Dance attire must be purchased in advance from an appropriate retailer, several of which can be found in the Guelph, Waterloo and Kitchener areas, or can be found online. Your dance instructor cannot sell or provide class attire, and it is the responsibility of the dancer and their family to arrive to class prepared.

On Class Drinks:
Dancers are encouraged to bring water to dance class, and will be given time to drink water during class between exercises. There is no water fountain in the church, and water will not be provided or sold to students, so please remember to send your child with water to class. Other clear or light drinks, such as gatorade or powerade are also acceptable. Sugary drinks such as juice or iced tea and carbonated drinks such as sodas are more likely to cause cramping and should be avoided. Heavy and hot drinks are also to be avoided.

Some dancers may find that their enjoyment of class is improved if they restrict dairy intake an hour before class. This is not a requirement, but some students may prefer to do so, and if your child mentions a sore stomach during or after class, this is worth considering.

On Watching Class:
Parents are always welcome to observe classes from the rear of the classroom, so as to provide an opportunity for them to watch and enjoy classes with their young ones while also allowing dancers to focus on class. Two open houses will be held as “mini performances” during which time parents, friends and family will be invited to attend as a formal audience to watch from the front of the classroom.
