Year End Performance
Year End Performance
A small performance will be held at the end of the year at the Fergus Grand Theatre with costumes and ticket sales. The year end performance is an opportunity for dancers to share what they have learned and rehearsed throughout the year with their family and friends. Participation in the year end performance is optional.
Costumes
To help keep costs down as well as to allow for more variety of age-appropriate costumes, costumes will be sewn for children by volunteers. Costume designs will be sent home with students to allow parents an opportunity to provide feedback early in the year before costumes are sewn. Feedback is required to be submitted before the Christmas holidays.
Parents will be required to pay for the materials costs of every costume their child will require for the performance (i.e. if a child elects to participate in two classes, they will be required to purchase two costumes). Costume fees will vary from class to class depending on the material cost of each costume. Purchase of a costume is mandatory for dancers wishing to participate in the year end performance.
Ticket Sales
Ticket sales for the year end performance will begin in March. There is no restriction on how many tickets dancers may purchase for their families.
Ticket sales for the end of year performance will go towards covering the rental fee of the facility and performance costs. Any funds raised above and beyond what is required to cover the cost of the performance will be donated to St. Mary’s Catholic Church at the end of the performance.
Tickets must be purchased for every audience member except babes in arms, and all ages are welcome.
For the 2024 show, Joyful Joyful, adult tickets will cost $25, tickets for children under the age of 12 will cost $5.
Tickets can be purchased online through the Fergus Grand Theatre Website, or in person at the Fergus Grand Theatre box office.
Videography
Our recitals are filmed by a professional filmography studio, using a two camera setup for a combination of wide angle and close up footage of dancers. The footage is then edited by the filmography company to produce a professional, high quality memory for your family.
The video is available only to dancers and their immediate family, and the price is determined by the number of individuals who have signed up to split the cost of the videography studio. The studio makes no profit from the recording, and the cost is strictly the cost paid for the videography split amongst the parents who have elected to participate. In the past, this cost was kept low as a result of 100% participation by families of dancers performing in the recital but purchasing a video of the performance is entirely optional.
Parents who wish to purchase a video are also required to sign a consent form, acknowledging that the footage taken of the recital of St. Vitus Catholic School of Dance is for private, family use only and not for distribution or public consumption. Participants are required to agree that not to post or share the video, in whole or in part, to any public forum or forum which may include those who could re-post the video to a public forum such as public social media or other sites.
Any parent who wishes to see the contract between the film studio and the dance school is entitled to view its clauses and conditions, and may request the full text of the contract to be shared with them by emailing the dance school. The contract always stipulates the destruction of the footage by the film studio after distribution to parents and that the recital footage will not be used online or as a sample for business purposes.
Details related to cost and distribution of the recital film is provided in June and July, before and after the recital has taken place.
